“Tefillin” by Yona Wallach remains one of the most controversial Hebrew poems ever since it was published over forty years ago in 1982. We’ll learn more about this poem and the resulting controversy, examining what it can teach us about Judaism, mysticism, desire, and feminism, and more. Text will be provided both in the Hebrew original and English translation. Please note that this poem contains explicit language.
