Though often absent from modern Jewish learning, angels captivated the rabbinic imagination and they feature prominently in Jewish liturgy. Unique among them is the Angel Metatron - the Prince of the Presence, who started out as flesh and blood, and, made an angel, was elevated to such degree that he was allowed to sit on the divine throne.
It is perhaps not surprising, given this “Star” status in heaven, that Metatron received quite a few a pop-culture treatments in recent years. But is the angel Metatron of Talmudic text, anything like his pop culture depictions in books (His Dark Matters), on film (Dogma) and on TV (Good Omens)? Join us on an exploration of Jewish text and find out!
