Calendrical Corrections: Leap Years, Leap Months, and Leap Days

Why is this year different from all other years? Join Akiva Gordon of the Moishe House Cambridge "Heymish" Pod for a text study in the origin of corrections to the Jewish calendar in this February 29/Adar I shiur. We will discuss calendrical corrections both Jewish and secular, and analyze some features of the combined calendars such as everyone's favorite Thanksgivukkah and this year's exciting confluence of leap years.

Akiva Gordon is a fifth year graduate student in chemical engineering at MIT. His research focuses on designing novel mRNA vaccines to treat a variety of diseases. He is also a resident of the Moishe House - Cambridge Heymish Pod, where he and his wife Alison host social and learning events every month. Akiva loves mathematical curiosities and has a long family history of talking about calendars.
