Two Part Series:
Join this class for a text study on Talmudic tales about Beruriah, the only woman mentioned in rabbinic literature as a Torah scholar, and remembered for her incisive teachings. In part one of this two part series, we will uncover the figure of Beruriah and read texts emphasizing her wisdom, accomplishments, and family ties. In part two of the series, we will discuss the more tragic and troubling tales about Beruriah, and consider how we may reclaim this figure as modern Jewish feminists.
Join for one or both sessions! Each session is ticketed separately.
