The Better Place: A Show From Izzy Abrahmson's Village Life

  • Lehrhaus 425 Washington Street Somerville, MA 02143 USA (map)

When Rabbi Kibbitz gives advice, no one listens. He hates being called, with a smirk and a snicker, "a wise man." Just once, hed like to be taken seriously, but all they do is laugh… Will it ever change?

You'll laugh and smile, perhaps sing along, and maybe (just maybe) learn a bit.

Performed by Audie Award Nominee Mark Binder, THE BETTER PLACE is a joyful 50 minute(ish) one-person show for adults set in Izzy Abrahmson's version of the village of Chelm.

The performance will be followed by a talkback discussion, Q/A ,and conversation.

Izzy Abrahmson is the author of the award-winning Village Life series, which has been nominated for a National Jewish Book Award. Izzy is also the pen name for Mark Binder.
Between the two of them, they have written and recorded more than two-dozen books, and have performed on stage before hundreds of thousands on two continents, in seven (or eight) countries.

Izzy Abrahmson's Village Life series began when Mark was working as the editor of a regional Jewish Newspaper. These stories have been published in books and magazines, and have been performed in New York, Boston, Dublin, Amsterdam, Vienna, at the Yiddish Book Center, London Jewish Book Week, and the Sneem Storytelling Festival.
