One of the most prominent biblical commentators of the 19th century, Rabbi S.R. Hirsch was particularly gifted at interpreting ancient texts to make them relevant for a modern audience. Even today, his insights continue to inspire contemporary commentators from across denominations. Why does Rabbi Hirsch have such broad appeal? This class will explore how Hirsch's desire to bridge tradition and modernity resonates with challenges that we face today around community building, shared responsibility, and reimagining Judaism for our contemporary world.
