Lehrhaus Founder Franz Rosenzweig's 1921 work The Star of Redemption, constitutes a major contribution to both the traditions of western philosophy and Jewish thought. It is a multifaceted and difficult book, and the purpose of this series of meetings is to work through the content of Rosenzweig's Star through group reading and discussion. As a diverse intellectual community, we can hope to better understand the powerful themes of the book, and its consequences in our own lives. Participants should come with a copy of William Hallo's 1985 edition, and should endeavor to read the specified section before the course meeting if possible.
Class Meeting 3: Part I Book II "The World and its Meaning or Metalogic" (pp. 41-61): The second book of the first part of The Star of Redemption uses Rosenzweig's dialectical method to establish our knowledge of the world.
Tickets for Session 2 are available here.
