How to Write a Jewish Joke

  • Lehrhaus 425 Washington Street Somerville, MA 02143 USA (map)

Learn some of the history of Jewish comedy, and leave this workshop with one original Jewish joke to impress everyone in your shul. (Cannot guarantee a good joke.) Is there comedy in the Talmud? Sure. Is it good? Debatable. From certified Jewish comedian Antonia Lassar (@antonialastar) comes this workshop that is guaranteed to disappoint your parents. All Jewish and all comedy backgrounds welcome, especially if you're not funny. You'll make everyone feel a lot better about themselves.

Antonia Lassar is a queer Jewish comedian/actor/hot person based in LA. She's best known for her viral tiktoks about Jewish life as well as her solo shows Post Traumatic Super Delightful and God Box. She has been featured by JFL, Glamour Magazine, and USA Today, and has toured venues like The New Repertory Theatre, Yale, UC Berkeley, and Smith College. She was the main speaker at the 2018 National March Against Rape Culture in DC for her work using comedy to education about sexual violence. She recently received the prestigious Mandel Fellowship for her Jewish standup comedy. Antonia performs with the iconic UCB theatre, and she regularly does standup around LA and at your mom's synagogue. (Catch her at Temple Beth Avodah in Newton on Dec 9 at 7pm.)
