Understanding National Zionism through Rabbi Kook (and vice versa)

  • Lehrhaus 425 Washington Street Somerville, MA 02143 USA (map)

While Rabbi Kook's presence is hardly felt in American Judaism, in Israeli Modern Orthodox society he is one of the more influential figures. His writings tend to stand on their own, but they are also a great key to understanding a large part of Israeli society. After a short introduction to his biography and bibliography, this class will focus on Ma'amar Ha'Dor - Rabbi Kook's reflections regarding the secular Zionist movement in Israel.

Shimon is an Israeli from Jerusalem who wounded up, temporarily, in New England.
